She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ioannina in 1999 and completed her postgraduate studies at the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras, where she received her Master's Degree in 2002 and her PhD in 2006. Her research interests focus on Computational Linguistics and applications of thematic analysis and processing of electronic texts. Her work has been published in proceedings of international conferences and journals. She has also served as a member of the review and organizing committee of international conferences and is a member of the evaluation committee of the European Community's eContentPlus Programme.
