Vlizos Stavros

Associate Professor of Museology, Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Ionian University

I graduated from the University of Ioannina/Greece (1989) and received my Ph.D from the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (1997). I was Senior Researcher and Assistant to the Director at the Benaki Museum between 2002 and 2013, and adjunct lecturer at the Hellenic Open University in the period 2003-2017. I teach as faculty member at the Ionian University in Corfu from 2014 a range of courses in cultural heritage management, with a focus on archaeology. Within the framework of the “Amykles Research Project” I am leading the excavations conducted at Amykles near Sparta/Greece under the auspices of the Athens Archaeological Society, since 2005. I am a funding member of the scientific committee of the Athens “Roman Seminar”.
